Sometimes this is good, maybe you had an early civic that isn't getting you much use now, so you can change it if that one ends up getting picked. On the Influence System, if one of your territories is dominated by another culture, being under their "sphere of influence" is a term the game uses, then you are subject to "osmosis events" where your people, looking to the great political minds of the influencer, demand that your culture adopt government policies to match the influencer's, which includes movement on the political axes. ![]() The "Culture System" in Humankind is the culture selection per era thing, you're talking about Influence. Furthermore, the particular religion that's dominating your territories may be one that doesn't necessarily give you the best benefits, or maybe the religion belongs to a rival that you don't want to give the benefits too. I am pretty certain that conquering territories with foreign holy sites in them didn't gain any of my religion's bonuses, so maybe any of your old holy sites won't gain the benefits but any new ones that you make, will. On religion, I'm not sure, because I don't often fail to promote my own religion.
